Who is teaching this
A teacher and a salesman walk into a construction company.
That is not a joke setup. That is our actual house. Here is the short version of how two people with no technology background ended up teaching other people how to use AI.

I am Brooklyn born, first-generation American, out of a Jamaican, Trinidadian and Venezuelan family — which is to say I grew up around people who worked, fed everybody, and did not accept excuses.
I spent fifteen years in public schools, first teaching and then in administration. If you have ever watched a classroom of thirty children learn thirty different ways, you understand the whole philosophy behind everything I make now: explain it once, show it, do the first one together, and nobody moves on until it sticks.
We came to North Carolina in 2018. Dan and I built MRS K’S Home Repair from nothing, and running a small business turned out to mean doing eleven jobs at once with nobody to hand them to. So I started using AI — not for fun, but for estimates, client emails, invoice follow-ups, the paperwork that was eating my Sundays.
I was bad at it at first. I opened forty scattered chats and lost every one of them. I asked “which tool is best?” and got a hundred pros and cons and no decision. I tried to automate something before the manual version even worked. Every one of those mistakes is now a lesson, because they turn out to be the same mistakes everybody makes.

Dan grew up on the West Coast, went to school in Houston, and spent his career as a corporate executive — the rooms where you have to explain value before anyone will talk about price.
Then he traded all of that for a truck and a punch list. He co-owns the repair business with me, he is on the ladder and in front of the customer, and he is the reason I know the difference between a conversation that closes and one that just ends politely.
His part in this is the part AI genuinely cannot do for you. It can help you show up prepared. It can organize your follow-up and help you explain what you are worth. It cannot make a stranger trust you. That is still a person’s job, and Dan is very good at it.
Why any of this exists
Nobody was writing for the woman with a full plate.
Once AI had actually given me my weekends back, I went looking for something I could hand to other business owners. Every course I found was written for people who already speak technology. Confident, expensive, and completely useless to somebody with a laptop, a business to run, and forty-five minutes before pickup.
So I wrote it myself, the way I taught fourth grade. Plain words. One idea at a time. A real task from your own life, not a hypothetical one. And no pretending this is magic — it is a tool, it gets things wrong, and you stay in charge of every decision.
We are a family business. Our name is on it. That is not a marketing line, it is the reason I will not put anything in front of you that I have not used myself first.
